Reason to start The Challenge

Keen for a challenge and to start living a cleaner lifestyle.

What did you like most about The Challenge?

The thing I loved most about the challenge was actually the change I saw in my own behaviours. Going from any excuse to eat or drink or go out and party to taking control of my life was so motivating, and self-sustaining that I don't believe i'll ever change now haha! When you see the results of consistency and dedication, you just cant argue with that, and any doubt is crushed. Bringing about such a positive change through small daily disciplines that are really easy to actually do is life changing, and the added benefit of feeling good when your actions inspire others to make change also, well that's just the cherry on top! ** also as a side note, the Max's Supershred bars are amazing and have earned a spot in my pantry from now on lol!!!

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

This sounds silly, but the hardest thing for me about the challenge was taking those dreaded "before" photos. I was happily living in my own deluded world where I didn't think I was overweight. Those before photos though whilst difficult to take initially, ultimately pushed me to achieve as I would look at them whenever any temptation arose, or if I was feeling lazy. They were the hardest thing to do, but the greatest fuel to my fire!

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

The Challenge has been absolutely life changing! Apart from being the healthiest and fittest I've been in my adult life (which is massive), I've actually learned the habits that will help to retain these fantastic changes long term e.g. meal prepping, weighing food, mindfulness, and the most important - goal setting and achieving! The Challenge has been my highlight of the year, and I'm just so grateful to have had the opportunity to do it!

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

Since posting an "after" pic on Facebook, I've already had people asking me about it and a good friend has already signed up for the next one. To people thinking of doing Max's Challenge, I couldn't think of a greater gift to yourself than doing it! The things you learn, the results you see, the community atmosphere in the social hub and latest journals that helps you to keep pushing towards your dream, its a no-brainer really! Nothing to lose, everything to gain, I absolutely recommend and encourage anyone thinking about it to throw your hat in the ring and give it a shot!

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

I guess I was lucky in that I had some great support throughout the Challenge. The team at Max's provide such great information, motivation, and an epic platform for everyone to share their journey on, that you never feel alone or unsure. Also, getting guidance from some of the world's greatest minds, listening to youtube clips of Eric Thomas, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Art Williams, Jim Rohn, David Goggins, Inky Johnson, Zig Ziglar, Elon Musk, Steve Jobbs and a plethora of others helped to strengthen my mind as I Strengthened my body. The food and training are really the easy parts here, the mental game for me was where it was at, and finishing this challenge with epic results has changed my life in my many more ways than just physical. What I've become physically from this journey I think is not as important as who I've become, and I cant thank Max's enough. Big thanks also need to go to my girlfriend Kirsty Sinclair (pictured in my final photos) - She is the one who actually wanted me to do the Challenge first and convinced me to do it alongside her. We've both had epic results and if it wasn't for her, I don't know if i'd be typing this today, so a massive shout-out and thanks to Kirsty! Doherty's Gym City was my workshop through the Challenge, so a massive thanks to Tony and Al for providing such a great, motivating place to train 24/7. Finally, if anyone is thinking about the Challenge, or uncertain in any way, then in the simple words of Art Williams, "Do it!" The plan is simple, the results are significant, and support is spectacular - Thank you Max's!

Nearing the end of the challenge, I have to reflect on what made my results possible and what will ensure continued success. Apart from the legends at Max's for running the comp and providing awesome guidance, Doherty's Gym city has been my workshop. The place is a raw, underground, and no BS > the perfect place to focus on a goal. Through sickness and a couple injuries, small details such as the mantras pictured have pushed me to keep going and stay the course. Solid gym delivering solid results, cheers lads! - one more famous quote emblazoned on their wall: "The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines in the gym, and out there on the road, long before the dance under those lights.."

Week 8 - Pic taken on Wed 12/07/17. 13 kgs down since day 1. weeks 6 and 7 went a lot slower with progress stalling but a good friend just said "Trust the process, stay the course." Then by middle of this week went from 95 to 93 in a couple of days (likely to have been just holding water). 4 weeks to go - lets see what's possible..
