Mass - Intermediate
I have seen and supported family members challenge themselves previously with great results. During this time I have always kept active, but have not had the time to complete the challenge myself due to work commitments away from home, however have always wanted to see what I could achieve once I could give it 100%. I now can give the challenge 100%, however I have recently had a big life changing event in my life, which is requiring alot of soul searching for myself and I now also see the challenge as a perfect opportunity for myself to complete something I had wanted to do for myself, and give myself something to focus on and achieve.
I enjoyed the accountability the challenge provides and the ease of knowing what to eat from the meal plans. The simple fact knowing that you have entered the challenge online and already posted photos to begin with, really helped to motivate myself out of bed every day and into the gym.Going through probably the hardest part of my life to date mentally and emotionally, at the same time as beginning the challenge, I found the meal plans easy to keep myself on track eating well, during a time that comfort food and take away, most likely would be easy to turn to. There was no need to give alot of thought about what to eat, as it was somewhat planned out for you. The hardest part is finding a park at the supermarket!
The two hardest thing during the challenge I found was firstly training around a pectoral injury that I had already got prior to the challenge start. It was present throughout the whole challenge, and learning how to modify certain exercises was a slight set back but also definately achievable.Secondly the other hardest part was dealing with sickness. There was a period where I couldn't keep down food or fluid, loosing 4 kg when i was trying to put on mass didnt seem good! However as soon as I could, I was back into the meal plan and catching up on training.
The challenge has truely opened my eyes to how important nutrition is. You can workout every day, but have poor nutrition and not see the results that you want.I have learned alot with regards to meal portions and the best foods to eat, something that I can see continuing after the challenge.
Don't ever give up. Everyone will get set backs in some shape or form. Whether it is a minor injury or sickness, missing a workout or sneaking forbidden food!!Take it on board, get straight back on track. It is only a set back, it won't ruin your ability to achieve the goal you set out to achieve, unless you let it.
