Reason to start The Challenge

I work a full time office job and i was regularly overeating. I noticed i was putting on weight as my clothes felt tighter and my waistline got larger. I also constantly felt sluggish and had no energy during the day.
The max's 12 week muscle challenge was perfect timing to kickstart a healthy lifestyle.

What did you like most about The Challenge?

The whole idea of doing a challenge gave me the extra motivation to push and the determination to see how far i can really go.

Also, learning nutrition habits and portion sizing was the biggest eye opener. I still cannot believe how much food I was consuming before the challenge and how unhealthy it all was. I now I feel like I can eat the right amount of food without feeling hungry or lethargic.
The 12 week challenge has taught me good positive habits and my mind and body are thanking me for it!

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

The hardest thing about the challenge was actually taking the first step and making the mental decision to start and commit to the challenge. At first, it felt like it was a bit of a change in my life making the switch from living a social and unhealthy lifestyle not worrying about food or health choices to being health conscious but it quickly became a positive experience.

Also, before (and early on) in the challenge it was easy to just consume the incorrect foods but once I started to treat food as fuel and make healthy conscious food choices I felt much better and happier and I also continued to see results on the scales and in the mirror!

The turning point was at about 4 weeks into the challenge when my mind and body adjusted and everything became second nature, a habit and more enjoyable.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

I have been so much more energetic and positive in my day to day life. The challenge has taught me so much including self discipline, preparation and planning. Also, the mental clarity from living a healthier lifestyle is amazing!

I feel more in control of my personal life and feel like I am so much more determined and motivated to achieve and exceed any goals that I set for myself. I set a goal of loosing 12kg in 12 weeks and I am proud to say i smashed that goal and lost 13.6kg in 12 weeks, went from a 36 inch waist to a 32 inch waist and went from over 20% body fat to under 10% body fat. Woohooooo.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

Just take the leap and it's just one step at a time from then on. Rome wasn't built in a day!

You'll look back and be grateful when you achieve results and your body will absolutely thank you for it. It is a challenge that is suited to anyone wanting to improve their mindset, health and fitness lifestyle.

A massive misconception is that doing the challenge is about giving up your personal and social life and eating broccoli and chicken everyday going to bed in hunger. That is the complete opposite. Doing the challenge is about learning how to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

Plus, I never would have thought I would lose 13.6kg in just 12 weeks doing the Max's challenge but all the support and guidance make it extra helpful and motivating in achieving the goals you set.

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

The forums, social hub, podcasts, diet plans and exercise plans was all helpful in remaining on track and with motivation.

Also, I owe a massive thank you to my partner, family, friends and the Max's community for helping me achieve my goal of losing over 12kg in 12 weeks!

Down from a 36 to a 30-32 inch waist. These 36 inch suit pants i was wearing to work everday were a tight fit 12 weeks ago!

Never noticed this before but i saw it during my workout. Couldn't be more true. The last 10 weeks has just been a mind game. It's not your body that decides what exercise to do or what food to eat, rathar, it's all in the mind.

Week 10 seemed to be the toughest week so far. I felt a little bit sluggish and my sleep was interupted. I thought i might be in a platue and contemplated easing off the diet and excercise. The best way to explain it was the same feeling as when you go for a run and towards the end of the run it gets challenging so you stop and walk back to the finish. I couldn't think of any changes i made this week or that i was pushing too hard. I decided it was all just a mental game so i pushed through and what a result - week 10 is my first week in the challenge of loosing over 1kg!!! That puts me at a total of 11kg lost. Goal is to get to a total of 12kg in 12 weeks. The light is at the end of the tunnel!

As we prepare for the weekend, the newsletter this week touched on a good point - Dealing with negative comments (regarding food choices). Don’t be afraid to be different and be a leader. Stay strong and true to your goals.

The biggest eye opener with the nutrition plan has been the meals that include eating 2-3 cups of vegetables. The amount of volume of food for the amount of calories is insane!! I was never one to eat many vegetables prior to the challenge but the mental clarity and focus it provides is amazing. P.s. I never knew what a leek was or how to cook it but its now one of my favourite vegetables.

Officially past the half way mark!! It's only been 6 weeks in but i feel like it's been a way of life and I have now forgotten what life was like before the challenge. I have been happy with my progress and on track to loosing 1kg a week average. Woohoo. What has motivated me is not just seeing results but feeling a lot healthier, happier and more energetic. I feel not too much has changed in the mirror but i remind myself of the weight I've lost on the scales. I'm also thankful I haven't had any significant setbacks or injuries (touch wood) and would put this down to taking things one step at a time. Bring on the second half of the journey!

It's starting to become habbit to do the fresh fruit and veg shopping first. I can't slip up on the diet at home if i have nothing to slip up on in the pantry or fridge 💪💪

No word of a lie, the healthiest weekly grocery shop i have ever done in my life. Surprised that it was cheaper than my grocery shops before the challenge. It might not include anything from the sweet isle but my body will thank me later. 💪💪💪

Perfect weather for a cardio session. I guess this weather gave me no excuse to say no to going for a run. Did also give me time to refresh and clear the mind.

After 4 weeks of procrastination i thought i would give the fitness test a shot to start week 5 and far out, that fitness test was more of a workout destroyer! My thighs were burning especially after only 15 burpees! I don't think I've burnt more calories in that short space of time ever before. I was surprised with my results and I'm looking forward to seeing an improvement at the end of the challenge P.s. That muscle burn felt kind of good :p

    15 Burpees
    55 Push Ups
    17 Crunches
    23 Alternate Lunges
    55 Plank
    25 Jump Squats

Week 3 day 1. Oh what a first two weeks it has been. In summary, I have been happy with my first two weeks of training and nutrition and put this down to the excitement of starting the challenge. The hardest part was making the mental decision to start, take the first step and begin the challenge. Once that happened i felt, and still feel, motivated and determined to see how far i can go. I have been very impressed with the meal and nutrition plans and see how motivating the online forum and community can be. Looking forward to what's to come.
